Veteran actress Surekha Sikri dies of cardiac arrest at 75 in Mumbai

urekha Sikri breathed her last today (July 16) after a prolonged illness. She was a three-time National Award-winning actress. An alumnus of the National School of Drama and a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Surekha Sikri won numerous hearts with her roles in Balika Vadhu, Tamas, Kirdaar and Just Mohabbat.
Surekha Sikri was seen in one of the episodes named Rehman Ke Joote, which also starred Om Puri. Directed by Gulzar, Kirdaar was based on short stories written by Urdu, Hindi and Bengali writers. She played Rehman's wife. She wowed us with her performance on the show and shared amazing on-screen chemistry with Om Puri.
Surekha Sikri was seen in Gulzar's TV series Tehreer - Munshi Premchand Ki where she bowled us over with her brilliant performance in the episode on Eidgaah. She played Hamid's grandmother, for whom he buys tongs, as he didn't want her to burn her hands while flipping rotis on the stove. She won hearts with her emotional portrayal of her character on the show.
